The modern woman has achieved a status tempered by other courageous women who have made their marks in this world. I could go on forever enumerating these women, but then we can focus on only one who has greatly shaped the realms of entertainment and mass media and inspired the feminine gender to stand tall and proud despite adversities. She is Oprah Winfrey.
She as always known the power of media, and has magnificently utilized the power of the television to inspire many people. And she never contented herself with such. Thus comes O: The Oprah Magazine, and now, all her fans can grab a monthly copy for keeps.
This magazine was first published in April 2000, and now it has become a widely-read mag, with a circulation of about 2 million. Indeed, Oprah has etched her name in the minds and hearts of people, most specially, women.

What makes this magazine different from the others is its personal appeal, with Oprah opening herself as you turn every page. It is like her life in print, with every leaf a proof of the strength that she has mustered through the course of her living. As a matter of fact, in her maiden issue, she wrote that she hopes that her magazine would help us, readers, lead a more productive life and feel a sense of vitality, cooperation, harmony, balance, and reverence within ourselves and in all our encounters. She never negates the reality of frustrations, anxieties and disappointments; rather, she encourages us to stand up to our choices and not allow these negativities to hold us back.

The magazine has aimed to touch the lives of all women, but specifically, the adults belonging to the middle upper class, regardless of their roles. So it would not matter whether you’re a plain housewife or a career-oriented woman. The magazine fits your life all the same.

There are countless topics in womanhood, and it is just right for “O” to set a particular theme for each issue. Never the less, many points remain constant, as Oprah and her team teaches us on every aspect of being a person, form business, to arts, to beauty, to clean living. And as we close the magazine, we would feel as certain wellness not only from the outside, but also from within.

Now, media cannot live without advertisements, and so Oprah makes sure that even the smallest ad in her magazine would still mirror her positivity. She does not settle for anything less, although she believes that aiming for more doesn’t mean spending more. Indeed, glamour comes in the convenience of anyone, and not only for the rich and famous.
